Paula Ellis

Several years ago, I was looking for music for my morning meditation time and came across a CD by Peter Kater and R. Carlos Nakai called "Migration." It was the first time I had ever heard the Native American flute and immediately I was hooked! I spent the next several years collecting Native American flute CDs. Then, on a vacation in the Smoky Mountains, a Cherokee shop owner suggested I should learn to play the flute myself. The following Christmas, my husband gave me my first Native American flute and some books of music. The next March, I attended my first flute circle meeting. That was a few years ago, and the impact on my life has been immense. I have met wonderful new friends, discovered a new hobby to share with my husband, and even traveled new places because of my involvement with the flute. As my journey continues, I am excited to see where it takes me next.
